What Digital Skills do you Need to get Emerging Jobs?

The Linkedin Emerging Jobs Report for the UAE finds that job hunters need to have a digital skill-set to compete is a changing marketplace.

Data scientists, Digital Marketing Specialists, Full-stack Engineers, Cyber-security Specialists and Android developers are some of the job titles that are “emerging”, which, according to Linkedin is a role that has seen significant growth.

ACEDE exists because the nature of work is changing. From the Gig Economy to the skills needed to build a career. And those skills are a mix of digital knowledge and soft-skills.

Soft-Skills are those that cannot be mimicked or replaced by AI or automation. Creativity, team management, leadership and negotiation are required for all jobs, not just the emerging digital ones.

Part of Linkedin’s motivations for creating the report is to help people in the workforce showcase new skills on their profile.

Some emerging roles, like Customer Success Specialist and Tax Specialist are not digital and reflect other changes in the market. Customercentric businesses have a long way to go and the UAE only recently required companies to pay VAT. At number 7 on the list is Content Specialist – which is essential to Digital Marketing.

The rise of online commerce is also changing the roles that are available in the region.  12th on the list from the report is Commerce Manager.
